I purchased this to replace an older blu-ray that had trouble commuinicating with my receiver. It was first gen and I couldn’t wait but it still had some bugs.

So far at playing discs this has been awsome, the sound and the picture quality couldn’t be bet

Samsung 3D led have good response from the customers its has 2D to 3D conversion technology and it also offers a lot of applications like Google Talk, Skype and Twitter

Then again none of the movies are recorded on 9.2 sound track. As of this day, correct me if I am wrong, All movies are 5.1. So the 9.2 really is not beneficial other than noise coming out for the rest channels, The really sound is 5.1, the rest the DSP is just multiplexing out of the 5.1, which is just noise.

To everyone here asking if you may use 5.1 on this Onkyo 9.2 system. Are you serious…? Cause if you are then save yourself the time and money and instead buy a Receiver because your way outside of your realm here. To answer your question you could hook up one speaker or all 9 plus 2 subs. It makes no difference if you use 5.1 except for the fact that your wasting your money on a SSP that is capable of 9.2. Of course it will still work fine. Though if you don’t plan on upgrading to a 9.2 system at some point in the near future then i wouldn’t waste my time or especially my money. Instead go and purchase a run of the mill 5.1 system cause everyone’s got one and their way cheaper. The main advantage of this SSP is that you may have 9.2 and Audssey’s own Multi EQ XT32

I don’t think the TX-NR709 will ever come down to $300. Maybe in 2-3 years, $500 is much more likely

$899 is way to much. That is also the MSRP. It needs to come down at least $300.

Thank you Callen & Lewis. I thought PR-SC5508 is 9.2 channels system. I think Robert’s and my question were how we going to hook PR-SC5508 Onkyo 9.2 channel output to 5.1 chanel input power amp without any sound quality reduction. Still need your help.
